Do You Really Know SaaS Economics? MRR, CAC, CLTV, Churn, and the Basic Economics of Healthcare Software as a Service (SaaS) Startups

Posted by Sean Schantzen

Recently I've had a number of conversations with both investors and companies about the economics of Software as a Service (SaaS) companies in healthcare (below is a definition of SaaS). 5 Keys to Investing in the Consumerization of Healthcare with Ben Wanamaker of Walmart

Posted by Komal Garewal

Consumerization is coming to healthcare – it just may end up looking different from what we imagined.

High-deductible health plans are causing cause patients to act as consumers. They care more and more about cost, value, and quality of care they receive. Consumerization is beneficial for almost everyone as it has the power to drive lower costs and deliver better care.

Investing in this space is hard because there is so much noise. Many entrants don’t know how to clearly identify who will pay for their products or how to navigate the existing healthcare system. The paramount challenge is creating real, tangible value for patients, healthcare providers, employers, insurance providers, or better, a combination of several.

Given his experience working directly with each of the major players in the industry, Ben is one of the most knowledgeable resources regarding healthcare consumerization. In our interview, he identifies four key questions to ask when assessing healthcare startups in this space.

Posted by Komal Garewal

Great investor communication can be a major driver of returns; it activates a startup's most potent evangelists – its investors.

The challenge of communication lies on both sides – it’s difficult for founders to know what to say, when, and how. It’s perhaps more difficult for investors to set standard expectations.

To dive into some best practices, we interviewed Joe Milam, founder of AngelSpan. AngelSpan's investor relations service platform minimizes entrepreneurs’ efforts and maximizes investors' engagement, giving advocates the information they need to assist startups in finding success.

Joe highlights three ways investor communication can be forged as a powerful tool. Read on for an overview or watch the entire interview below.
